The Song
I didn't like the way this song started out: Most of these things he's making fun of are harmless, some (avocados, golden retrievers) are just objectively sick as fuck. It kind of bothers me, honestly, the way women in particular get criticized for social media use, and I don't like Burnham's smug dismissal of an entire group of people. So when, at 2:17, the camera pulls back, and we get Bo Burnham's idea of what goes on in these people's heads--all the pain and heartache and all that--it caught me off guard. Gonna call a spade a spade here: Mr. Burnham, you have outsmarted me. White Woman's instagram is a good song. Hopefully a couple people saw it and decided to be a little nicer in the future.
